Main objective of Wildlife Connections is to connect people to our precious wildlife (again), appreciating its presence and recognising the need for its own habitat. Activities will be undertaken together with the local wildlife sheters of which there are about 350 in Victoria only.
The Wildlife Bushfire Appeal was closed on the 31st of August 2009. Since the start in February 2009 we have received great support from many people, companies and organisations who all worked together to contribute their bit and made a difference. We were proud to be part of that.

Despite the fact that you don't see regular news updates we're still actively working with the wildlife shelters and currently in the process of releasing a completely new website. Planned release date of this new website is early next year, so stay tuned.

For the an overview of the previously published news items regarding Wildlife Connections please click here.
10 August 2009 - We're in the process of forming a 'virtual nestbox design and production factory'. There are quite a number of people making nestboxes already, which means that there are at least an equal number of designs available. On the other end there are constant requests for nestboxes and people who are willing and capable of placing them. Our objective is to bring these intiatives together via The Nestbox Factory on this website.
6 August 2009 - This afternoon we heard the sad news that Sam the Koala died while having surgery. The photo on the right was taken yesterday evening before her surgery.
"Dr John Butler of the Morwell Vet Clinic operated on Sam shortly after 1pm today and discovered that Sam had severe changes in her urinary and reproductive tract that was non-operable and unfortunately had to put Sam to sleep," the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter said in a statement.
Obviously Sam was one of the many of our wildlife friends who didn't make it during or shortly after the recent Victorian bushfires, but in the hearts of many people she represented something which is or for some has become very precious - our sense of belonging and connection with our wildlife. Let's hope that feelings like these grow from events like this.
22 July 2009 - Click here to download information on a forum coming up on 22 July to explore issues around caring for wildlife after the bushfires. It is aimed at private property owners affected by bushfires and people involved in wildlife care, important information for many of us in fire affected areas.
15 July 2009 - Rod Lyon (Nationwide Towing & Transport) delivered the first ten concrete pipes (donated by Rocla in Campbellfield) to the Plenty Gorge - and Chum Creek Wildlife Shelters.
9 July 2009 - New wildlife shelter map is added in the organisation page, allowing you to check the exact location of the wildlife shelters in Victoria including contact details. Over time more shelters will be added.
4 July 2009 - Many were present on this very well organised evening commemorating the effort and dedication shown by our wildlife carers and - volunteers during the recent devastating bushfire season. It was an evening of reflections and exchanging experiences. Many thanks to Wildlife Victoria for organising.
